Frequency tables pulled from real game scripts. Browse, search, and sort. Then drill with the SRS game.
Textbook vocab is fine, but it rarely sticks the same way as words you've actually seen in context. Games force you to read: menus, dialogue, item names, battle text, and that repetition builds real memory. I started using these lists to look up words before loading up a new game, then drilling them in the SRS so I wasn't stopping every two minutes to check a dictionary. After a few sessions it genuinely changes how much you can follow. Start with a game you already know well in English, so you can guess meaning from context and it all clicks faster.
The original RPG that defined a genre. Classic Japanese with archaic verb forms, perfect for intermediate learners.
Continue the legacy of Erdrick! A larger world and more complex narrative introduce a wider range of vocabulary.
The classic Kanto adventure. Dense dialogue with trainer battles, item descriptions, and professor speeches.
The Hoenn region expanded. Longer script than FireRed with more varied vocabulary from contests and Battle Frontier.
Load any of these CSVs into the SRS game and start quizzing yourself.
